Cleveland HiBore XLS Driver Review
The Cleveland HiBore XLS Driver took the company's old XL model and made it 17 percent larger. It’s got the 460cc head that maximizes the USGA’s legal limit, and an expanded hot zone across the clubface that optimizes launch conditions and helps get the ball further down the fairway.
A big emphasis on the HiBore XLS Driver is its stability. “Stability foils” on the heel and toe of the club indicate where the designers added weight to the club’s perimeter, helping to increase the MOI 13 percent from the older HiBore XL model. Along with the expanded hot zone and Cleveland’s energy transfer core of titanium spines inside the clubhead, this helps generate ball speed and distance even on shots that aren’t hit perfectly. Just as important, it works to keep drives straighter, since massive yardage off the tee doesn’t do much good if the ball winds up out of bounds.
Another technical tweak ensures that buyers don’t get fooled by knock-offs or imitations. The club’s toe graphics changes from white to yellow when exposed to daylight or in UV conditions.
The Cleveland HiBore XLS Driver is available in 8.5, 9.5, 10.5 and 11.5 degree lofts, and the Fujikura Fit-on-M shaft comes standard. Steve Flesch is among the pros who calls the driver his own.
