Cleveland HiBore XLS Tour Driver Review
Want to pick up a driver that’s just like what they use on the professional tours? The Cleveland HiBore XLS Tour Driver offers exactly that experience.
The club is part of the series that includes the HiBore XLS and HiBore XLS Draw Drivers, with the same expanded hitting zone, perimeter-focused weights, and a MOI that pushes the legal limit. The weight is focused lower and deeper in the clubhead, moving the center of gravity to the center of the clubface and maximizing both ball speed and the effectiveness of the launch conditions. There’s also a system of thin, lightweight titanium spines, which the company calls its “energy transfer core”, to help the ball explode off the hitting surface.
In addition, the Cleveland HiBore XLS Tour Driver is designed to PGA tour specifications, and has been tweaked based on Tour testing and player feedback. It has a clubface that is slightly open, a two degree shift that combines with toe-biased weighting to produce a fade-biased design. The hosel is slightly longer to conform to the standard tour length, and though the head size is still 460cc the shape itself is a bit more compact in the traditional pear-shape. For a suggested retail price of $299, it’s a lot of distance in a reasonable package.
