Cleveland Launcher 2009 Review

Cleveland Golf gave its signature driver a facelift in 2008/2009, and the result is the new Cleveland Launcher 2009 that looks, feels and plays like one of the leaders on the market.

The redesigned club has a face 21 percent larger than the original Launcher 460 and Launcher Comp. That gives it more forgiveness on off-center hits, resulting in straighter drives. Its discretionary weight was shifted low and deep in the clubhead, with a 17-gram horseshoe-shaped weight pad on the rear perimeter of the sole securing an optimal center of gravity and a higher MOI. Moreover, it comes with a lightweight Fujikura Fit-On Flightspeed shaft to help increase swing speed and therefore distance.

The Cleveland Launcher 2009 review got some well-deserved accolades from the UK publication Golf Monthly, which tested it against five other top drivers: the Callaway FT-iQ, Cobra L5V, Nike SQ DYMO, Ping Rapture V2, and Taylormade R7 Limited. After comparing the group’s distance, accuracy and feel, looks and value, it gave the Launcher the top spot in its rankings. The redesigned Launcher also made Golf Digest's 2009 hot list, getting a gold rating in the "Drivers Under $350" category.

If that’s not enough, it’s 2008 FedEx Cup winner Vijay Singh's club of choice off the tee.
