Mizuno MX-560 Review
It’s theoretically possible to miss-hit the ball with the Mizuno MX-560, but the club sure doesn’t make that easy to do.
The MX-560 is the predecessor to Mizuno’s new MX-700, and there’s a lot to like about how the club looks and plays. The designers’ goal was to create a club that offered both extreme distance and extreme forgiveness, the two attributes that most shoppers are searching for. To assure that forgiveness, they increased the MOI to alleviate the effects of hitting the ball off-center. With an MOI as large as the MX-560's, from heel to toe as well as up-and-down the clubface, a drive doesn’t have to be struck perfectly to get good results, and at 460cc there is plenty of room to work with.
To get the distance, it has an H.E.M.I. geometric head shape that produces a desirable center of gravity that is low and deep on the clubhead. The face is designed for extreme distance, with a CNC-milled, plasma-welded Cortech face insert giving ball speed measured right at the top of the USGA’s legal limits.
The street price on the Mizuno MX-560 is $299, and it comes in 8.5, 9.5, 10.5 and 12 degree lofts.
