Ping Rapture V2 Driver Review

The Ping Rapture V2 is the newest brand among Ping's drivers, introduced in 2009 and serving as the centerpiece of a set that includes fairway woods, hybrids, and irons as well. It's the successor to the Ping G10 and the original Ping Rapture lines, and looks poised to be no less of a hit.

As if an ordinary 460cc clubhead wasn't big enough, Ping's design extends the face height. There's also a sloped crown and a thin clubface that produces the ball speeds that lead to big drives.

The club has external tungsten weight pads in the heel and toe of the club, optimizing the center of gravity and setting the stage for lower spin and higher launch. The Ping Rapture V2 has a high MOI that gives it both forgiveness and accuracy, and it comes with a lightweight shaft that helps increase swing speed.

A good-looking club is always appreciated, and the Ping Rapture V2 shows some style with lime green accents on the shaft and sole. It also keeps the traditional pear shape that Ping is known for, soothing those who want the forgiveness and distance of an oversized stick but want others to think they use something smaller. In short, it’s another winner of a driver from one of the leaders in the industry.
