Taylor Made R9 Driver Review
The Taylor Made R9 is a favorite on the PGA Tour. Rory Sabbatini used it to win the Byron Nelson Championship in 2009. Sergio Garcia, Sean O’Hair, Darren Clarke, Briny Baird and Justin Rose use the driver as well, as does the legendary Greg Norman.
Those stars who rely on the club to make a living do so for a reason. It offers “flight control technology,” a system that allows golfers to adjust the head and shaft into eight different lockable settings. The face angle, loft, and lie can all be altered as desired. Meanwhile, the Taylor Made R9 also offers its movable weight technology, that allows users to change the center of gravity as well. The combination of the two results in an astounding 75 yards of left-to-right directional ability to play with.
Of course, the Taylor Made R9 also is designed to make sure the ball flies down the fairway, regardless of which setting a golfer picks. It sports a classic clubhead shape that features a large hitting surface and MOI, and the default center of gravity is set up to encourage high launch conditions. The ultra-thin club wall not only leads to higher ball speeds, it makes the movable weight system possible by releasing the discretionary weight for use elsewhere. It’s no wonder the combination has made it such a popular choice for the pros.
