Titleist 909 D Comp Review
Like its sister clubs, the Titleist 909 D COMP has a pear-shaped clubhead, a titanium body, and a lot of fans on the PGA Tour. But there are several tweaks that may make this the perfect choice for golfers seeking a high-performance driver.
The club of choice of Billy Mayfair and Brad Faxon, the Titleist 909 DCOMP offers the high launch and low spin that move the ball down the fairway. It’s in the same family as the Titleist 909 D2 and 909 D3, but the clubhead is fuller and more forgiving. It has the largest profile, deepest center of gravity, and highest MOI among the 909 drivers.
Moreover, the Titleist 909 D COMP has a milled face insert that maximized ball speed, and a composite crown that lowers inspires majestic, high launches.
With many clubs, a high launch means high spin, but the engineers manipulated the weighting here to mitigate that and keep the spin at a low-to-mid level instead. That’s made possible by an ultralite titanium hosel and a swingweight screw that matches the head to the shaft and keeps the club properly balanced. It’s a light club that’s both long and forgiving, integral attributes that make this one of the leading drivers on the market.
